This painting (16.5”x 37.5”) is an effort to pursue yet another direction for Dulcinea’s art. It is painted in the manner of Franz Kline, a member of the New York School after World War II. After
the tadpole painting, this is simple, direct, and forceful. In this
work you can see the same types of visual energy Arnheim discussed with
his hubs, centric and eccentric energy (ref. “Pursuing
Destiny”). The software was written in the manner of Rodney Brook’s subsumptive architecture. This employs a hierarchical layering scheme for orchestrating behaviors of agents (or the now familiar ants). The merging of these two concepts, Arnheim’s and Brook’s, produced this design of hubs, centric and eccentric energy. The subsumptive software architecture was very effective at creating intriguing, new designs with each push of the “run” button. A new brushstroke was added, called the “kline” stroke, to provide the abstract look you see here. |
